A Spring Coffee Nook + My DIY Vanilla Latte Recipe

Happy Easter weekend! I hope you’re all enjoying some time with your family and friends. One thing that I love to do during a long weekend is indulge in lots of DIY vanilla lattes. They’re my favourite! Recently, I was sent the Breville Barista Express to try, and it’s really upped my latte game. It’s seriously ruined me for any other kinds of coffee (even expensive coffee from the coffee shop!) and it’s made my coffee nook look a lot more “grown up”. Let me give you a (super mini!) tour of my coffee nook this spring and share with you how to make your own DIY vanilla latte with DIY vanilla syrup.
My coffee nook is between our kitchen and (soon to be) dining room. For Spring, I’ve placed a few faux tulips and lavender in jugs around my Breville Barista Express. A couple of cute coffee and sugar containers give this little space the vintage vibe that I love.
The walls here are painted with chalkboard paint, so they’re fun to change each season. For Spring, I thought it would be fun to draw some botanical art. These are common herbs with labels.
It took me a little while, but I think I’ve finally perfected my latte making, and I can’t believe the difference a well-brewed espresso makes!
I make my own DIY vanilla syrup which can be stored in the fridge for up to a week, and then use my Barista Express to grind fresh espresso beans into a gorgeous espresso. The machine also has a milk steamer which is the handiest dandiest tool! After I steam some milk, I pour about a tablespoon of DIY vanilla syrup into my fresh espresso, then pour about 8 oz. of steamed milk into that. The result is the most delicious vanilla latte for a fabulous long weekend!
