A Bright & Colourful Easter Table Setting

A meaningful find inspired this Easter table setting! As we’ve been moving things around after my parents have left our guest house, converting that into my studio, and shifting storage from place to place, we found an old box containing some vintage china my grandma left me. I had almost forgotten about it until now! When I opened it up, I knew it would be the inspiration for this year’s bright and colourful Easter table setting on our rich wooden Keswick Table from The Brick – the pairing is just so pretty! Let me share with you this bright and colourful Easter table setting idea.

Grandma left me a whole, beautiful set of vintage china. It features a gorgeous blue, pink and green floral pattern with gold rims. I love these colours anyhow, but I knew they’d look absolutely fabulous as an Easter colour scheme!
Remember my post last week about colour schemes in home decor? The blues in these vintage plates against the warm wood of our Keswick table is a complimentary colour match made in heaven! I love the rich tone of the wood of this table. The red undertones compliment the blue of the plates and the rattan chargers I’ve used. The beautiful, solid pine texture of the table is also a great contrast with the glimmering gold on the plates and cutlery: it’s rustic meets glam!
We’ve enjoyed using this table since we got it last Spring, and it’s been wearing so well. I think it’s an heirloom quality table that I’ll be passing on to one of my kids!
The blue & white striped table runner I’ve used for this table setting is the easiest DIY ever – simply cut a slit in some fabric where to the width you want your table runner to be (usually 1/3rd of the table’s width), and rip it! Rip the ends to the length you desire, too.
I like the casual, frayed edge this makes, but if you prefer a more refined, hemmed edge to your table runner, check out my simple no-sew DIY table runner tutorial right here.
Faux bird’s nests and simple white linen napkins complete each individual setting.
Want another fun DIY for your Easter table? These cabbage leaf wrapped plants! I bought some inexpensive potted irises at the grocery store and wrapped them with cabbage leaves.
Simply pull the leaves off of a cabbage, wrap them around your plant pot, and tie them in place with baker’s twine. I did the same with some inexpensive grocery store tulips in hurricane vases, too!
For the kids, I’ve added some candy eggs in gold dishes on the table. I also put a few more pieces of Grandma’s china set on my sideboard. Then I added blue and white pillows on my settee along with a cozy and furry Mongolian Sheepskin Accent Pillow from The Brick to tie in the colour scheme throughout my dining room.
I love this Easter table because it’s old meets new, it’s vintage meets modern, and it’s rustic meets glam. Now, I can’t wait to celebrate the season with my Grandma’s china!
Now tell me: Do you have any vintage items passed down from your family members? How do you incorporate them into your decor?
