One Table, Two Looks: Fall & Winter Tablescape Ideas

Creating tablescapes is one of my favourite things to do, so when I recently got to work in-studio with The Brick on some table setting ideas, I was in DIY decor heaven! Let me share with you two beautiful tablescape ideas that will take you from Fall to Winter this year, and how well they both work on this French Country inspired Aspen Dining Table.
Look One: Jewel Toned Fall
This table setting is inspired by the rich tones you can often find in Autumn like burgundies, forest greens and coppers.
To recreate this look, you can purchase a pre-made Fall themed garland like I did for the center of your table. Make it look fuller by adding more greenery and a few velvet pumpkins to the mix.
For the place settings, copper cutlery and simple white dishes highlight this simple DIY name card. To recreate this, write your guests’ names on faux magnolia leaves with a metallic permanent marker.
These napkins are also a simple DIY – hem a piece of painter’s dropcloth to a napkin size (about 18 x 18″), and trim one end with some whimsical pom-pom trim.
Green velvet and floral cushions help make this setting more colourful and add some coziness.
I love how the warm grey colour of this gorgeous Aspen Dining Table from The Brick works with these jewel tones, but I also wanted to experiment with a bolder scheme and I was happily surprised by how versatile this table colour was!
Look Two: Traditional Winter with a Twist
I love Christmas time, and this table setting is inspired by all of the traditional, magical things that make the Holidays so special: snow, greenery, and pops of berry red.
This is a rather traditional take on a winter tablescape with it’s red & green accents, but I’ve put a twist on it by adding bold black & white elements.
To recreate this centerpiece, you could make a no-sew DIY table runner (here’s my tutorial) from a large scale black & white buffalo plaid fabric. Mix some snowy bottle brush trees and white paper trees (I found these at a craft store last year) on the runner for a simple but festive look.
I adore this pretty bow treatment on these lovely Caroline Wing Side Chairs from The Brick. To recreate this look, purchase a couple of large rolls of red satin ribbon from a craft store, tie a piece around each dining chair into a bow, and then hang a pre-made wintry pick from the center of each bow.
Tall champagne glasses add height to this tablescape, while matte black dishes modernize its traditional look.
The place settings are decorated with a faux read pear from the craft store tied with black & white plaid ribbon.
There’s a lot of black & white plaid on this table, but I think the mixing & matching of scales really makes it work!
I find that both of these beautiful tablescapes work with the neutral grey-brown of the Aspen table. I think I’m partial to the winter look with the pops of cheery red, but tell me: Which look for the Aspen table was your favourite – Fall or Winter?
