Classic Cottage Laundry Room Reveal – Mom’s Lake House

I’m so excited to reveal to you my parents’ adorable cottage style laundry room today! They’ve worked so hard finishing it off, and with help from Maytag Canada the space turned out beautifully. Come take a tour of this classic cottage style laundry room with tons of beautiful of DIY touches.
Just last week, I shared with you the mood board for Mom’s Lake House laundry room. The colours were light & bright with pops of natural wood to warm things up. My parents have been very busy working hard to finish the space all themselves, and I’m so in love with how it turned out! It’s even better than I imagined it would be:
Handmade wooden shelves add character to the inexpensive off-white cabinets in this room. My mom & dad even made a DIY hutch to store linens using pre-made cabinets, crown moulding and some “project board” they found at the local hardware store.
The wall colour is a soft grey-green called BEHR Hazy Trail. It’s the same colour as in their master bedroom.
The stars of the show, the Maytag 5.2 Cu. Ft. Front-Load Washer and Maytag 7.4 Cu. Ft. Electric Dryer from The Brick are nestled under a beautifully stained wooden counter top that will be the perfect place for my parents to fold laundry and store laundry accessories.
I really like the colour of this laundry pair – it’s neutral and almost industrial looking, and it could work just as well in a modern setting as it does in this more rustic one. I also love that these Maytag appliances are backed by The Brick’s exclusive Maytag 60 Day Money Back Guarantee – they’re an important pair of appliances for any home, and it’s essential that they work well!
I found a set of pretty wicker baskets in-store at The Brick last year, and I think they look right at home in this laundry room. They work well both in the cupboards and on the counter top. I’m always a huge fan of using baskets to hide things in!
Another beautiful handmade item in this room is this pretty little ironing board holder & shelf that my parents made out of more project board & wooden shelf brackets.
This custom hutch in the corner is the perfect place to store extra bedding and linens, and I love how it carries the theme of white + wood through the space.
The faux marble floor tiles are bright and neutral, and they echo the marble accents you might have seen already in Mom’s Lake House kitchen.
I’m so thrilled that my parents now have this dreamy laundry room to work in. Don’t you think they did an amazing job?! It perfectly matches the rest of their home so far, and it’s certainly the ideal lake cottage laundry room.
Tell me: What do you think of this laundry room design?

Gorgeous. I love it all.
Thank you, Marty!
I really love this room. I have a HORRIBLE laundry area in my basement that I don’t know how to fix. I have a sink in mine with the washer beside it and the dryer on the other wall. Did you have all the plumbing on the wall or did you have to change things? I had a designer in to give me an estimate on how to change it and was quoted 22K for a good job or 6K for a middling type job. I have lived with this mess for 40 years. Ah well.
That can be so hard, Joan not having your laundry space being as functional as you desire it to be. Christina did have all the plumbing on one wall as this was a new build for her Parents.
Oooh, I love it! I have Maytag washing machines too and love them. 🙂 This room is so cute. I need to have you come by and re-do my laundry room for me… but it has too much clutter in it. 🙁 I like their idea for hanging up an ironing board.
Love your house!
You’re too sweet, Merry!
Oh, Christina, your laundry room is amazing! Do you have a tutorial on that sign? I would love to make one for my laundry room. Thank you.
I like the cozy look of your parents laundry room! Ugh, I wish I can be that organized! Now I’m thinking were to get the things that I need now I have you parent’s laundry room as an inspiration! 🙂 Cheers to you and your family! 🙂
So glad you like the laundry room!! Happy decorating to you.
Hi Christina,
Pretty as a picture, in fact, it is a great picture.

Thank you, Mani!
Where are the cabinets from?
Hey Heather,
The cabinets are inexpensive off-white cabinets in this room. Christina’s mom & dad even made a DIY hutch to store linens using pre-made cabinets, crown moulding and some “project board” they found at the local hardware store.
Great Post Thanks for sharing!
