Come along with me as I share our modern French country master bedroom all decorated for Fall and some “hygge” decorating tips for the season!
This tour is part of the Fall Seasonal Simplicity series hosted by Krista of The Happy Housie. I’m so excited to be joining dozens of other bloggers in sharing our Fall home tours with you today. Make sure to head down to the bottom of this post after you’ve read it to see all of the other beautiful homes decorated for Autumn! Make sure to go visit all of your favourite homes, and share them with your friends online!
If you’re hopping over from Just Destiny’s beautiful tour, welcome! My name is Christina and I love to share DIY & decorating ideas on a budget from our country home in Alberta, Canada.
Last week, I shared our porch, dining room & guest bedroom decorated for Fall. You can see that tour right here.
Today, I’m sharing our master bedroom! I’ve dressed it in lots of cozy neutral colours and textures along with some simple accessories with a “hygge” vibe.
What’s hygge? You may have heard of the Danish term by now because it’s been quite popular over the last few years and I’ve shared it here on my blog before, but it essentially means “coziness of the soul”. A hygge home is one that makes you feel welcome, warm, and safe.
I’ve included many hygge elements in our bedroom for Fall, but some things to include in your own bedroom to make it feel cozy are:
- Candles
- Soft lighting
- Hot drinks
- Comfort food
- Music
- Books
- Plants
- Soft blankets & pillows
- Real wood accents
- Natural elements (plants, sheepskin, twigs)
- Ceramics
- Vintage accessories
- Texture
I love a lot of these things naturally, and then was inspired to include them in my Fall bedroom decor after I read The Little Book of Hygge.

So so stunning, Christina! I think I definitely need to add a little hygge to our bedroom. It’s been such a cloudy rainy September, that I’m ready for some cozy! So glad you could be part of this tour, friend!
What a cozy space!
Thanks, Shannon
