Get some decor ideas on how to make your bedroom feel soft, fresh & inviting for Spring with vintage inspired accessories.
Our bedroom is at the very bottom of the list when it comes to cleaning our house. It definitely gets neglected because not many people see it.
In honour of full disclosure & to illustrate what I mean, here’s how it’s been looking lately:
MY. WORD. It’s the epicenter of laundry in our home, and where are the solo socks go to die.
It’s been crying out for a deep clean and a refresh for Spring, so if you’re into watching cleaning videos, I made one!
Watch my Clean & Decorate with Me YouTube video:
For this season, I kept our room decor really neutral and light with only small bits of colour via my aqua check DIY tasseled pillow…
… and a couple of gorgeous vintage inspired pieces that were given to me by April Cornell.
This Victorian Rose throw blanket feels like an heirloom quilt with its thickness and soft cotton fabric. I love the edging and the gorgeous vintage rose fabric.
I also got the matching cushion cover which adds just he right amount of colour and pattern to the center of our bed while keeping the look soft & fresh.
Aren’t these such a pretty pair? If you love these as much as I do, make sure to browse the April Cornell website for more beautiful, vintage-inspired home textiles and use the promo code DIYMOMMY for 15% off your first order until July 31, 2019!
If you want to achieve a similar look, consider keeping most elements in your bedroom white or off white, and add soft colours through accessories like pillows and throw blankets. Use natural fabrics like light cottons and crinkly linens. Our heirloom quality duvet that I love is from Taylor Linens.
If you’re using a romantic floral pattern in your accessories, you can think about offsetting that with more rustic textures like what we did with our Reclaimed White Stikwood ceiling treatment. (The Bible verse art is from William Rae Designs.)
I’m so relieved that I was finally able to tackle our messy bedroom and give it a fresh look for Spring. I can’t wait to sleep here tonight!
(Our bed is from The Brick, but is unfortunately discontinued. Our nightstands are the Nicolet Accent Cabinet, and the loveseat was from a local decor store several years ago.)
Now tell me: Which room of your home to you neglect the most? Why?

Our back entrance is the dumping ground for shoes, boots, knapsacks and Amazon boxes! Our Sunday project later today to get it back in order. We put in built in open shelves but I think we might take those out in favor of a free standing structure instead. Browsing ideas for this space and hope to have it back in place soon. Love your April Cornell touch. I wear her clothes all the time and have some tea towels but haven’t yet added her bedding to our cottage. Yours is beautiful! Chy
Absolutely beautiful.
