Make a Fall Fairy Garden Wreath

Why is everything so much more exciting in miniature form?! I could lie and say that I like to make doll house things and fairy gardens because my girls love it, but the truth is that I love minis just as much (if not more!) than they do. This Fall fairy garden wreath is an ode to all things mini, and it’s a craft that both you and your kids will enjoy creating! Want more DIY Fall wreath inspiration? This non-traditional wreath looks cute hung on a door…

… or, nix the exterior greenery and use it as a cute tabletop display.

Make sure to buy a few of these little deer, because your 5 year old might keep prying them off your Fall fairy garden wreath and hiding them in her room. This is experience talking.

Here’s how to make this Fall fairy garden wreath:

Supplies:

• round galvanized metal tray (I found mine at Michaels)
• dried wheat (I found mine in a field!)
• floral foam
• glue gun
• egg shaped moss balls (Michaels) or a sheet of moss (real or faux)
• desired miniature decorations (I used a deer, tree, fence and mushroom)
• faux eucalyptus stems
• faux sunflower
• acrylic paint (if you need to paint the tree like I did)

First, cut the floral foam with a serrated knife to fit inside the bottom 1/3rd of the tray like this. Then, glue some wheat stalks to the foam with a glue gun as shown above.

Trim the bottom of the wheat stems and glue them down more as necessary.

Glue the moss balls or sheet of moss to the top of the floral foam to create faux grass.

Place and glue your desired mini figures to the moss.

Bend the bottoms of a couple of faux eucalyptus stems, and push them into the floral foam at the base of your wreath to cover up any glue or foam.

Glue a sunflower bloom to the bottom center of the wreath.

If needed, paint any greenery with acrylic paint in a Fall colour like this soft orange.

You’re done! This looks so sweet on a side table…

… or pushed into a pre-made boxwood wreath and hung on the door.

I found this boxwood wreath at Michaels early this year, and it was complete fluke that this tray fit perfectly inside this wreath!
