Autumn is the perfect time to enjoy a warm bonfire outside with friends and family! Here’s how I made a cozy Fall fire pit area on a budget in our backyard with Muskoka chairs, a DIY bar from a pallet, and soft accessories.

With the weather getting cooler, I wanted to create a place where we could gather with family and friends outside while staying warm. Outdoor gatherings have been important to us this summer with everything happening this year, and I wanted to extend the season!
(Here’s where I bought my cardigan – I love it so much.)
This DIY backyard fire pit on a budget has been a long time coming. We had the perfect spot for a fire pit area beside our house, and I found these amazing Muskoka chair kits at Costco online. I built 5 of these chairs, and painted them in an aqua coloured outdoor paint called “Dreaming of the Day” by Cloverdale Paint.
With a whole lot of elbow grease, some inexpensive materials and cozy accessories, I was able to create this simple fire pit area to enjoy well into the Fall season.
Watch my YouTube video to see how I made this cozy DIY backyard fire pit on a budget:
Heat-resistant spray paint gave this old fire pit a budget-friendly refresh. We used a mix of sand and crushed gravel to create a pad beneath it, that we can eventually cover with stone.
Cozy accessories like blankets, pillows and twinkle lights create a comforting atmosphere, and I can easily bring them in and out with this large IKEA basket.
A rustic bar I made from a pallet and scrap 2x6s and 2x4s (all free) is the perfect spot for s’more fixings and hot chocolate.
We look forward to enjoying this simple fire pit area for years to come!
