DIY Blanket Scarf that doubles as a Fall throw
You don’t need to know how to sew to create a beautiful blanket scarf that can also be used as a seasonal throw blanket for your porch. Any sort of flannel fabric will work for this simple DIY, and I love using a plaid patterned fabric for this accent piece. You can choose fabric that matches your porch’s color scheme and style. Learn how to make a simple DIY blanket scarf by clicking right here. Drape your scarf over the arm of a rocking chair or porch swing for the ultimate cozy look.
Personalized dollar store welcome mat
Nothing’s cuter than a fall-themed mat to welcome your family and guests to your home. This one is made with an inexpensive, neutral mat from Dollarama. Use a Cricut machine to create a custom stencil, and then use some acrylic or chalk paint to create your personalized design. Surrounded by planters or pots of fall foliage like ornamental kale and corn stalks, this mat is simply adorable! Try layering it with a textured rug for a cozy fall feeling that will get you right through from September to November! Get the full tutorial for this fall welcome mat right here.
DIY dried orange slices boho fall wreath for your fall porch
When decorating on a budget, there’s nothing like using natural elements and autumnal hues to save money and add visual appeal to your front door! This boho inspired wreath is made with a large brass hoop (a grapevine wreath would work too), some faux and dried florals, a scrap of fabric, and some dried orange slices. It’s a beautiful addition to your front door for Thanksgiving or for using all Fall season. Learn how to make this fall wreath by clicking here!
Create a throw pillow from Dollar Tree towels
Seasonal throw pillows can add so much personality to your home, and they’re the perfect addition to your front porch! This one was made with plaid hand towels from the Dollar Tree, and I used some gold-coloured thread to embroider “grateful” on the front. At less than $3 for this DIY fall decor idea, you can’t go wrong! Learn how to make this Fall throw pillow here.
Gorgeous pumpkins to use as fall porch decor… AND eat!
If your family loves pumpkin dishes and desserts as much as mine does, consider buying real orange pumpkins (or white pumpkins or gourds!) to use as fall porch decor and make your front porch look right at home in the pumpkin patch! I like to harvest them from our local pumpkin farm, wash them and cure them in the sun to make them last, and then display them on our porch stairs. If you have the space and the commitment to the look, a hay bale or two would make the perfect complement! Then, when it’s too cold for the pumpkins to be outside, I take them inside to use as decor there. I eventually roast them, puree them, and freeze them to use in pumpkin dishes throughout the fall and winter months. Get some of my favourite pumpkin recipe ideas right here.
DIY arm-knit blanket for cozy Fall evenings
This DIY is one of my favourite Fall front porch decorating ideas on a budget! For added texture on your front porch, you can make a beautiful and cozy arm knit blanket. This is a great DIY even if you’ve never tried knitting before. Add a fringe on the ends of the blanket for even more texture! This blanket peeking out of a basket next to your front porch swing or chair is the perfect welcome.
Make DIY wooden lanterns for under $10
Lanterns can add such a beautiful, designer touch to your outdoor fall decor. This DIY wooden lantern is a fun craft project, and it can cost less than $10 to make! I used 2×2 lumber from the home improvement store, a finishing nailer, some glue, and an old metal hanger. You can place battery-operated candles or fall decor like pumpkins, fall foliage, and florals in these lanterns. For Halloween, add some inexpensive plastic bats or spiders from the dollar store for cute & spooky decor. Find the step-by-step tutorial for these DIY wooden lanterns right here.
