Looking for RV dining table ideas? It’s time to add a touch of Scandinavian style to your mobile abode! IKEA, the home of affordable and stylish furniture, offers a multitude of options to enhance your travel trailer. Let’s dive into two fantastic IKEA dining tables that are perfect for your RV: the DOCKSTA and the PINNTORP.
The dining area can be one of the most used spaces for RVers. Whether it’s for dining or for office space, choosing a practical table is a must.
I recently swapped out the dining table in Our DIY Camper 2.0, so I thought it’d be a great time to share some RV dining table ideas with you. Both the tables I’ve used in our camper are from IKEA, and each have their pros and cons. This newest one is my favourite, but I’ll let you decide which one you like the best after you read my post! If you’re considering replacing your dated RV dinette area with a chic dining table, I think you’ll love these affordable options from IKEA.
IKEA DOCKSTA: The Round Wonder
First up is the round IKEA DOCKSTA table. This compact yet chic table is a brilliant fit for an RV. Its sleek white design, measuring 40 1/2 ” in diameter, adds a modern touch to any space. The round shape facilitates easy movement around the table, making the most of your limited RV space.
Pair the DOCKSTA table with colorful chairs to add a pop of color or go monochrome for a minimalist look. Dress it up with a vibrant tablecloth and eye-catching centerpiece, or keep it simple and let its clean lines shine.
This was the first table I used when I renovated our RV and gave it a modern makeover. I completely removed the old dinette bench and table, and brought in this chic round table for a more modern look. I paired mine with pink velvet chairs at first, then swapped those for some foldable white chairs. Swapping out your old RV table truly does transform the whole space. I love how this one has a pedestal rather than 4 table legs, so it doesn’t use up any extra floor space. The white tabletop reflects lots of natural light and truly makes the space feel bigger.
We liked this table for a while, but then I decided I wanted something that I could secure better to the floor of our RV. Plus, it was a little awkward for our whole family of 5 to fit around this table in the limited space of our RV slide area.
IKEA PINNTORP: The Space-Saver
Next, we have the IKEA PINNTORP gateleg table. This versatile table, measuring 26 3/8 x 29 1/2″ when folded down or 48 7/8″ x 20 1/2″ when opened, is a true space-saver. When not in use, the gatelegs fold down, turning it into a slim shelf-like table. Need more dining space? Simply lift the gateleg, and voila! You have a generously sized table top for the whole family.
The PINNTORP table offers practicality without compromising on style. Match it with folding chairs that can be stored away when not in use, and you have a dining set that’s both functional and fashionable. For a personalized touch, add placemats in your favorite patterns or hues.
I put our DOCKSTA table in our newest vacation rental dining area and it was perfect for that. When I installed this PINNTORP table in our RV, I used some metal L-brackets to secure the back legs to the floor of our slide. This makes it much more stable for our road trips, plus I LOVE the fold-down function.
When folded down, this RV table fits all 3 kids, us two adults, and there even seems to be room to spare. We use the edge of the couch as one seat, and a combination of pink velvet chairs and foldable white chairs for the rest of the seating. It’s also a lightweight table that is suitable for RV travel.
A second-hand or antique drop leaf table could be a similarly useful option, however I like that this one has the extension on one side only so that I can secure the back legs to the floor. While the legs are a bit awkward, I use them as extra storage space to hold my folding chairs.
Now tell me: which IKEA RV dining table do you prefer in our RV? I hope these inspired you to try one in your own rig! They’re both affordable and practical options. Get ready to hit the road with style and comfort, one IKEA piece at a time!
