How to make a DIY box gift
Creating a beautiful gift box doesn’t have to be complicated or pricey. Use your imagination and creativity to make one that suits your recipient perfectly! This one has a pumpkin spice theme, and it would work for a variety of people.
To begin, let’s create a small pumpkin floral arrangement for the gift box. Cut the stem from a small pumpkin and scoop out the insides.
Next, place a small vase or glass inside the pumpkin.
Now, fill the glass with reindeer moss and dried flowers. Make sure the arrangement will fit inside your gift box. I’m using dried florals from Luxe B Pampas Grass.
(P.S. Use the code THEDIYMOMMY to get 20% off your Luxe B order from their website or Etsy Shop!)
Then, you can use any cozy socks for your DIY gift or customize some wool socks with a Cricut. I found a “hello pumpkin” image on Cricut Design Space, cut it out onto iron-on material, and placed it on the soles of socks for a cute Fall accessory.
Assembling the gift box
Now it’s time to assemble your gift box. Place some box filler inside a medium sized box with a lid. Both my box and my filler were upcycled from some mail I’ve received (ALWAYS keep pretty boxes, friends!), but here are some similar gift boxes and gift box fillers on Amazon.
Then, add your DIY pumpkin floral arrangement, socks, and any other pumpkin themed accessories you like. I’ve added a scented candle & mug from one of my favourite local boutiques, and some handmade soap from The Real Bomb.
Finally, you can customize your gift box by creating a metallic decal with your Cricut and applying it to the inside lid of the box. I love this “happy pumpkin spice season” art I found on Cricut Design Space! (New to Cricut? Learn about how to use this cutting machine right here!)
I absolutely adore how this pumpkin spice themed gift box turned out, and I’d love to give (or receive!) this gift.
The beauty of a DIY gift box like this is you can make it as inexpensive or as pricey as you’d like. Combine some boutique items with upcycled or dollar store items so that it’s meaningful but still affordable.
Personalized gift boxes are also fabulous because you can choose a theme that suits your giftee perfectly. If they don’t love pumpkin spiced things, how about an apple pie themed box? Or a cinnamon bun themed box? The possibilities are endless!
Have fun creating your DIY gift boxes this season!
